The Urban Horticulture Project works with communities across the Pacific Northwest to establish and cultivate sustainable, productive gardens and orchards, providing local families with fresh, organic produce. We coordinate community workshops on horticulture, food preservation, and more. Our organization also works to promote both functional and ornamental urban greenspaces.

Types of Projects

There are several different urban improvements within the scope of UHP’s mission. Growing food, such as with vegetable gardens and fruit orchards, is a common project among our member communities and has the benefit of promoting self-sufficient and nutritious living. But there are other ways we can introduce a touch of nature’s beauty into our busy and stressful urban environments, such as with flower beds, roadside trees, and green spaces both small and large. Below are some examples of community planting and urban beautification.
